STAIND Giving Fans A Chance To Play Guitar On New Single
July 28, 2011According to The Pulse Of Radio, STAIND is teaming with Indaba Music and Ultimate-Guitar.com for a new contest in which fans can contribute their own guitar solos to "Not Again", the first single from the band's upcoming self-titled seventh album. Fans can now submit their solos for consideration through the Indabaweb site, with the window for submissions closing on August 10 at 9:00 p.m. ET. Fans can then listen to all the solos and will have until August 17 to vote for their favorites. A grand prize winner will be chosen by the members of STAIND and unveiled on the record's release date, September 13.
A version of "Not Again" with the winning guitarist's solo on it will appear as a bonus track on the album at iTunes. The winner will also receive a $1000 gift certificate to Guitar Center, a Mike Mushok signature model PRS guitar and a signed copy of the new album. 10 runners-up will get a signed copy of the CD.
The new disc is STAIND's first studio effort in three years, but singer Aaron Lewis told The Pulse Of Radio that it wasn't an easy record to make. "I'm usually pretty good about, you know, not wearing my stress on my sleeve at all, and this was a very stressful record," he said. "We videotaped the entire thing, like everything, and we really, we captured all of it. And you'll be able to see for yourself as to how stress manifests itself in the creative process."
This is the first STAIND album done without founding drummer Jon Wysocki, who exited in May. STAIND recently enlisted EVANESCENCE drummer Will Hunt to fill in on some festival shows but has yet to announce a permanent new drummer.
STAIND will perform a handful of shows in September, including Southern California's Epicenter festival on September 24, with full tour plans yet to be announced.
